Encounter

Encounter is an informal evening gathering held in church at 6.30pm on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Lasting just over an hour, it offers space to pause, reflect, worship and explore faith in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Whether you are a regular churchgoer, exploring faith, or simply curious, you are very welcome.

What to expect

Encounter is more informal than a morning service, with time for worship, prayer, reflection and response. There is space to listen, be still, and take part in a way that feels right for you.

Do I have to join in?

No. You are welcome simply to come and be present. You can take part as much or as little as you like, with no pressure to do anything you are not comfortable with.
Worship, prayer and reflectionWorship usually includes songs led by a small band, with time to reflect and respond. If sung worship is new to you, you are welcome simply to listen. There will also be people available to pray with you, if you would like this.

Teaching and response

Each gathering usually includes a short talk of around 20 minutes. From September, we will begin a series on discipleship — exploring what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life. Afterwards, there will be space to reflect and respond.

New to church or exploring faith?

Encounter is a good place to start. You do not need to know what to do, and you will not be expected to join in. Come as you are, take things at your own pace, and know that you will be warmly welcomed.
